Information to verify before activation
- Service-area fit: confirm the communities and ZIPs the business accepts and any access or project limits.
- Accepted work: document the service categories the provider actually handles; do not assume every waterproofing inquiry is suitable.
- Business and contact details: verify the business name, working contact information and who is authorized to accept inquiries.
- Applicable registration: check relevant Pennsylvania home improvement contractor registration when legally required, plus any other credentials applicable to the proposed work.
- Insurance information: obtain current information for the work and verify coverage details with the appropriate insurer or agent where applicable. A website listing is not proof that a particular loss is covered.
- Consent to receive inquiries: obtain the provider’s agreement to receive and appropriately handle referred requests and their personal information.
What registration does and does not mean
Pennsylvania’s Attorney General explains that most home improvement contractors must register, with statutory exceptions, and describes insurance and contract requirements. Registration does not imply state endorsement. Check current official information for the business and work involved; this website does not convert registration into a guarantee of skill or results.
Communication and truthful advertising
- Identify the business clearly when contacting a homeowner and explain why the inquiry was received.
- Discuss service fit and any assessment charge before the homeowner agrees to a visit or paid service.
- Use submitted information for the requested inquiry, respect communication preferences and do not treat it as consent to unrelated marketing.
- Provide accurate scope, pricing, contract and warranty information in the provider’s own name.
- Supply only verifiable advertising claims, with permission for any real project photographs or testimonials. Do not attribute a provider’s crews or credentials to this referral website.
Maintaining a relationship
The operator should record the source and date of verification before activation, review expiring or changed information, and require the provider to report changes to contact details, coverage, registration and accepted work. Unresolved inaccuracies, expired required documentation or inappropriate handling of inquiries are reasons to pause referrals or end a relationship.
These are operating standards, not a claim of continuous monitoring, a comprehensive background check or a professional certification. Homeowners should still verify current information and assess their own written proposal before hiring.
Report a concern
Contact the website operator with the business name, the relevant inquiry and a brief description of the concern. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive documents. We can review the referral relationship; the provider remains responsible for its contract and construction work.
